Why Do I Need Protection Against Mosquitoes ?
There are two types of mosquito that are a problem in Spain, the image to the left shows a common female mosquito feeding on a human. The mosquito homes in on its food source by detecting carbon dioxide exhaled through breathing and also likes the smell of sweat and some perfumes. The mosquito injects anti-coagulant into the blood so that it can draw the blood, this anti-coagulant causes the body to react by releasing histamine which causes the red lump to appear and the irritating itch to start. Some people have a severe reaction to mosquito bites and the worst thing they can do is scratch the area causing infection of the affected area.
The image to the left shows the Asian Tiger mosquito which recently has become a major problem in Spain. It is much larger than a common mosquito and has stripes around its body. The bite from this mosquito can be much more severe than the common mosquito and can cause hard swellings in the affected area, possibly requiring treatment from a medical professional. If you are prone to bad reactions from mosquito bites be very aware of this pest.
What can I Do?
Unfortunately when you are outdoors you are going to be on the mosquito menu. You can try and protect yourself by wearing light coloured close knit clothing, as mosquitoes home in on dark colours and have difficulty in piercing close knit fabrics, use a good repellent spray and try and stay away from areas where there may be stagnant water.
When indoors, our product, when used correctly will prevent mosquitoes from entering your rooms. The best procedure is to spray mosquito killer into the protected rooms, close the doors thus making sure that any that have entered your home through open doors and windows have been killed. This should be carried out particularly before going to bed as this is when you are more likely to be bitten if there is a mosquito hiding in the room. There is nothing more annoying than hearing that distinctive buzzing in your ear when you are just about to go to sleep. Be aware that they are masters of disguise and can disappear without a trace until feeding time.

As with anything, prevention is better than cure !!
